Development Of Rucking
Good rucking is a skill which key for all players not just forwards. This weeks look at developing rucking, the skills apply to both backs and forwards. All players must be able to do these well, especially backs if they get caught out wide with very little support.
The first drills are for more basic use and so can easily be used for junior sides or groups being introduced to the idea of rucking. You can still use them with more advanced players. Sometimes the more basic drills are the more effective.
The purpose of the drills are to introduce rucking very simply and then build up the intensity. Start slow and controlled and then get quicker once the players are familiar with the various roles. Do not increase the intensity if things are not working/improving.
Expect to see better decision making around the ruck and give your players better awareness whether they arrive early or late.
